History
It all started with a man named James Hannah. James and his father, Troy Hannah located our flagship store in Lenoir, North Carolina and in November 1982, “Hannah’s BBQ” was born.
All of our restaurants serve the same wonderful award winning hickory smoked BBQ, homemade coleslaw (this is James’ mother’s recipe, we called her Miss Emmie or Emma) and our from scratch BBQ Beans and hush puppies.
Barbara Hilton, originally, from our Lenoir location opened her own “Hannah’s BBQ South” in Hickory and Lincolnton North Carolina. Hannah’s South offers a more expanded menu with St. Louis Style Ribs, Burritos and Quesadillas, fresh fried Apple Empanadas are a favorite.
And Ron Elliott, James’ brother-in-law operates this Claremont location. If you are looking to find Mr. Hannah, he most likely will be at this restaurant. Especially during the breakfast hours serving up a cup of fresh coffee and there’s probably a good story brewing too. This location is the only one to offer breakfast.
